26-09-2011
During the final weekend of Shoot Me 2011, we will travel to the foreign ground of Africa! This continent is often directly linked to war, political turmoil and poverty; the so-called Third World. But what does this continent offer us in terms of beautiful films, visual art and music? The innovative and creative qualities and influences of African film makers, artists and musicians are the central theme on 15 and 16 October.
‘Africa Wow’ is a selection of movies from African and international film makers, movies that deal with contemporary issues related to music, subcultures and specific African events. The best film will be honored with the Different Angle Film Award, audience choice! In collaboration with Africa in the Picture we present you a special program. Africa in the Picture is a film festival that focuses on the work of filmmakers from Africa and the African Diaspora. Every year the festival shows more than 50 recent films, documentaries and shorts, often in the presence of the filmmaker. The Africa in the Picture selection will screen at Shoot Me and The Hague Filmhuis.
